AI Software Engineer (Associate)

Build and ship product features in an AI-first environment. Experience not required — hunger is. A launchpad role for freshers who want to grow at 10x speed.

About the Role

Experience is not a prerequisite — hunger is. We're looking for freshers who have shipped something, broken something, and learned fast. You adapt to AI models the way your generation adapted to smartphones — naturally and fluently. This is a launchpad role for engineers who want to grow at 10x speed inside a product-led AI environment. You have already used AI tools to build something that didn't exist before. You think prompts are code. You have a GitHub. You ask 'why' and then build the answer.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship product features across the Virtuos Experience Stack under senior guidance
  • Write clean, well-tested, and documented code in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Participate in code reviews — both giving and receiving feedback constructively
  • Work with databases — write SQL queries, understand data models, optimise for performance
  • Integrate AI model APIs (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini) into product features and internal workflows
  • Experiment with prompt engineering to build AI-powered product capabilities
  • Learn and apply RAG, vector databases, and embedding-based search techniques
  • Use AI coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to maximise your development velocity
  • Actively participate in standups, sprint retros, and team knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Take on stretch assignments that push your current skill boundaries
  • Document what you learn — technical notes, post-mortems, and how-to guides for the team
  • Seek feedback early and often; treat every code review as a learning opportunity

What We're Looking For

  • B.Tech in Computer Science (completed)
  • Strong CS academic record
  • At least one personal or academic project on GitHub
  • CS Fundamentals: Data structures, algorithms, OOP, OS concepts, networking basics
  • Programming: Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript — writes real code, not just tutorials
  • Git & Version Control: Branching, pull requests, commit hygiene — uses Git daily
  • APIs & Web: REST APIs, HTTP, JSON — can consume and build simple endpoints
  • Databases: Basic SQL, relational models; exposure to NoSQL is a plus
  • Personal Projects: A GitHub with real code — side projects, college projects, experiments
  • Growth Mindset: Views mistakes as data, seeks feedback, learns without being told
  • Initiative: Doesn't wait to be assigned — sees a problem, takes a shot, asks for review

Nice to Have

  • Used an AI/LLM API in a project
  • Hackathon participation or prizes
  • Open source contributions (any size)
  • Evidence of self-directed learning online
  • AI API Exposure: Has called Claude/OpenAI/Gemini API and built something with it

What We Offer

A growth-focused position within an AI-first engineering organization

Opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI models and technologies from day one

Clear career progression path: Associate → Engineer I → Engineer II → Senior → Staff/Lead

Mentorship from senior engineers and hands-on learning opportunities

Access to AI coding tools and resources to accelerate your development

A dynamic and empowering environment focused on learning and innovation
